Torstar Digital University (TDU) was created to foster learning and development through both traditional and non-traditional offerings. Some examples of events include: “The Untold Story”, a series where our business leaders engage in casual forum discussions and share learnings from their leadership journeys. Other events have included: “Thinking on Your Feet,” “Grammar and Syntax,” “Surviving in a Digital World,” “Delegating for Success,” “Second City Improvisation,” “Twitter and Pinterest 101.”
From our open concept loft-like office in Toronto’s King West neighbourhood to our casual dress code Torstar Digital is well aware that our employees are a unique bunch. To recognize their give-it-all attitude we have a real-time recognition program called High5 that lets employees reward those who go above and beyond in their pursuit of our core values. On top of all that we close early on Fridays before long-weekends, have a discounted gym memberships program and host social events throughout the year.
Torstar Digital recently launched ‘Digizens’, a volunteer program that gives employees the opportunity to work on job-related skills while giving back to the community. Participating employees receive days off to volunteer for a registered charity of their choice. The catch: employees must be willing to share their experience and learnings with their peers in a lunch and learn format.

Torstar Digital Connex is a 3-4 month paid internship that provides students and recent graduates with the knowledge and training they need to excel in the digital media space. Our interns are encouraged to connect and network with each other and our leadership team. Every intern is assigned a ‘buddy’ to provide perspective into other areas of the business and insight from their own experiences.
We want our interns to have a second to none experience while at Torstar Digital. We strive to achieve this by offering exciting, challenging work, opportunities to learn and grow, all while having fun. One of the first things you’ll do is participate in an office scavenger hunt and speed networking events to help you make connections. When your internship is complete, we review your performance and ask for your feedback. Many of our interns join our team permanently. In any given year on average, 50% of interns have transitioned into permanent roles at Torstar Digital.
